Computer chip manufacturers have performed what look like miracles reducing the size of the transistor making possible a pocket size computer.  Computer manufacturers are taking advantage of the size reduction and have introduced a line of small fanless computers that can be found on the internet using search terms like bookshelf computer, small form factor computer or micro computer. Not far off is a computer that will be contained within in small light weight video glasses.  Until recently a Wearable Personal Computer, WPC, involved putting various computer components in a backpack or sewing them into a vest. A small, thin battery pack the the size of the FIT-PC2 was impossible to find.  I turned to the hobby industry for help building a power source. Model airplane manufacturers started moving away from gas engines to electric motors several years ago.  They replaced the gas engines with a combination of lithium polymer battery and brushless dc motor.  I used my experience with model airplanes during the design of the pack shown in the video.  The battery, when handled properly, provides 2 to 3 times more power for size and weight than nickel metal hydride cells.  Use and handle the cells with caution!  That much energy in a small package can be very dangerous.  Learn about the hazards before buying lipoly cells.  The lipoly battery pack shown in the video will power the pc and video glasses for about 2 hours.

The concept of using the 5 way switch as part of a computer input device can take on many forms.  I introduce one in this video.

MY latest wearable computer effort is smaller and faster.  The improvement comes from a pico 820 motherboard made by Axiomtek.  The pocket size computer keeps getting smaller!  Still using the Vuzix VR 920 video glasses for the monitor.  The keyboard and mouse replacement I built now has a new printed circuit board.  I chose the U-HID from Ultimarc.  The single board handles input from both keyboard and mouse.  The only thing that would make the U-HID better is wireless connectivity.
